The Pickled Sparrow

The taproom at the top of Burrow Market in Brandyburrow, and the warmest room in the village on any night of the year. Low beams, a hearth big enough to stand in, and a ceiling stained the color of strong tea. A stuffed sparrow in a sealed jar of brine hangs over the bar. The story of how it got there changes with the teller and none of the versions are true.

Fifteen tables, most of them regulars', and a back room that gets used for wakes, weddings, and arguments about water rights.

The House

  • Bosk Habberdy (he/him), publican. Third generation behind this bar. Enormous, calm, and entirely uninterested in anyone's business but his own.
  • Nettle (she/her), his daughter, runs the taps and keeps a tally of who is being an idiot.

What Is On

Brandyburrow brandy, obviously. Two ales, one dark and one that Bosk describes only as "the other one." Pickles by the plate, free with a second drink. A hot pie of unspecified contents.

Why It Matters

This is where the campaign begins, though not where it happens. On the night of the working the common room holds the party, thirty locals, and a publican who is about to do something out of character.
